The UFC was in Atlantic City, New Jersey for UFC Fight Night 128 and the evening belonged to Kevin Lee and Frankie Edgar who both picked up big wins.

UFC Atlantic City treated the New Jersey fans to an exciting night of action with both Kevin Lee vs Edson Barboza and Frankie Edgar vs Cub Swanson living up to all the pre-fight hype.

Elsewhere, Welshman Brett Johns tasted defeat for the first time and Siyar Bahadurzada claimed victory with a huge body shot knockout.

Here is what we learned from a thrilling night of mixed martial arts in Atlantic City.

1. Kevin Lee can dominate the best at lightweight

Kevin Lee's fifth-round stoppage victory over Edson Barboza was totally dominant.

The American controlled the bout from the opening exchanges and did well to mix together his striking and takedowns against the cage to totally overwhelm Barboza in nearly every single round.

Lee was briefly troubled by a beautiful Barboza spinning wheel kick in round three, but that aside, he dominated every single second of the fight and it could've easily been stopped earlier than it was midway through round five.

After the bout, Lee called for a showdown with the current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Missing weight by one pound on Friday won't help his cause, but if Lee can get one more big win and prove he can hit 155-pounds, it would be hard to deny him the opportunity.

2. Another tough night for Edson Barboza

Barboza is going to need some time off following the beating he took.

The Brazilian showed plenty of courage on his way to his fifth-round stoppage loss, but he was outclassed throughout and that one bright spot in the third round aside, he never looked like winning.

Barboza is easily one of the best strikers in the UFC, but during his last two fights, both Nurmagomedov and Lee have shown there is a blueprint out there to beat him and he's unfortunately come up against two that have executed the gameplan superbly.

There are still entertaining fights out there for Barboza, but after the punishment, he's sustained in his last two fights it's about time he took some time to rest and perhaps return later this year.

A showdown with Michael Chiesa wouldn't be a bad shout for his next matchup.

3. Frankie Edgar had all the answers for Cub Swanson

Frankie Edgar had plenty of baggage on his shoulders heading into his fight with Cub Swanson after losing both his father and grandfather during fight week.

"The Answer" somehow put all the distractions behind him though and put on a vintage performance to outwork in all areas on his way to a unanimous decision victory.

Edgar's superior footwork allowed him to get in and out of range to land his shots and Swanson only rarely came up with a counter to keep him honest.

Given everything going on in his personal life and the fact that he was coming off a loss just seven weeks earlier, Edgar's performance was nothing short of outstanding and speaking after the fight he called for a shot at the winner of Max Holloway vs Brian Ortega coming up at UFC 226 in July.

4. Welshman Brett Johns tastes defeat for the first time

UFC Fight Night 128 won't be one to remember for Welshman Brett Johns who took on Aljamain Sterling on the main card.

John was simply outworked in all aspects of the game and found himself outclassed both on the feet and on the mat.

To his credit, Johns attempted to rally in the third round and pick up the pace to put Sterling on the back foot, but even then the American responded well and he rode out the clock using his wrestling to take all three scorecards clearly winning all three rounds.

Now 15-1, Johns will have no doubt learned a lot from suffering the loss of his career last evening.

5. Siyar Bahadurzada scored a huge body shot knockout win

Welterweight Siyar Bahadurzada put together his third straight win with a devastating body shot knockout over Luan Chagas on the preliminary card.

The finish came midway through the second round when the Afghan landed a huge front kick to the body which immediately had Chagas crumpled over and heading to the mat.

Bahadurzada rushed in to land an uppercut as the Brazilian fell to the canvas, but the damage was already done and Chagas was out cold.

Speaking after the bout, Bahadurzada called for a top-10 opponent next in the welterweight division and it will be hard to deny him for long should he continue to put in performances like that one.
