The Oregon Ducks football program recently hosted a major recruiting weekend, and while it hasn't (yet?) added a verbal commitment, the coaching staff did manage to solidify a pair of unsigned pledges.

Earlier this week, four-star tight end Spencer Webb announced that he was solid with Oregon following his trip, negating the threat of recent offers from Florida State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and UCLA.

247Sports three-star offensive lineman Justin Johnson was a different story.

The 6-foot-7, 355-pound lineman, out of Neumann Goretti High School (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), was already personally invested in a future in Eugene, but he hadn't yet shown the University of Oregon to his parents.

That changed this weekend, and the trip earned their approval.

For Johnson, however, it was simply further evidence that he had found a fit.

"My Oregon visit went very well," he said. "I enjoyed myself a lot being around a lot of good players and also future teammates. I wasn't surprised by much. I've been there before, and enjoyed myself. I've seen mostly everything, so I just embraced it all over again and just enjoyed my time there."

Adding to the good news for the Johnson family, the gigantic athlete earned the "Mr. PA Lineman Award," given to Pennsylvania's top small-school lineman.

247Sports five-star defensive lineman Micah Parsons, a Penn State pledge, won the big-school award.

"It's a tremendous honor," Johnson said. "I'm glad to see a little hard work paid off, but it doesn't mean take my foot off the gas."

Oregon still has work to do to complete its potentially historic 2018 recruiting class, but over the weekend the Ducks solidified a pair of pledges they already had in the fold.

That's progress - even if it doesn't show up in the recruiting class rankings.
