CALL OF DUTY WW2 GAMESCOM UPDATE 1

Call of Duty WW2 developers Sledgehammer Games is now live with their latest inside look at the game ahead of the upcoming beta.

"The Call of Duty®: WWII Multiplayer Private Beta is only a few days away. Get new Beta intel and special announcements direct from Sledgehammer Games," reads the YouTube video description.

What those special announcements are, we cannot say, but we'll find out soon enough.

It's been revealed already that the Call of Duty WWII Beta Level Cap is Level 20 on Day 1.

Equally, Divisions has 5 levels in total, but players can only reach level 4 in the beta. In the full game, reaching level 5 unlocks the unique Division Weapon.

Some more weapons have also been revealed, with the PPSH-41, Type 100, Grease Gun, M1 Garand and more available in the beta.

There's also more details from the devs on the available modes and maps, which you can see below:

Modes: TDM, Dom, Hardpoint, Moshpit, War

Maps: Gibraltar, Ponite du Hoc, and Ardennes

Reports are also coming in that the PS4 beta is now available on the US PlayStation store.

Stay tuned for more details on the beta pre-load release date, which we're confident is today.

Call of Duty: WW2 beta - Download TODAY on PS4, but bad news for Xbox One?

Call of Duty: World War II's beta is rumoured to go live today ahead of the game's November release date and this Saturday's PS4 Beta start.

An official PlayStation ad has revealed that Call of Duty: World War II's beta pre-load may go live today alongside a Sledgehammer Games livestream at 6pm GMT (10am PT).

But it's bad news for Xbox One owners: the beta is set to go live on PlayStation 4 on August 25, a whole week ahead of the Xbox One's planned test on September 1st.

This means today's rumoured pre-load will likely only be applicable to owners of Sony's family of consoles.

Betas on both platforms are due to run until September 4th.

Sledgehammer Games will be showing you exactly what you can expect from the beta in today's live stream.

"We’re [...] pleased to announce that we’ll be unpacking the Private Multiplayer Beta content and dropping more intel in our Call of Duty: WWII livestream from Cologne, Germany at GamesCom 2017 on August 22nd at 10AM PT time" the developer confirmed in a blog post.

Sledgehammer Games has announced that the Beta is still very much a "small" part of the games overall Multiplayer experience available on release, but equally have said this will be a "critical test" for the games "core gameplay, game systems, as well as a stress test of online infrastructure."

Importantly though, Sledgehammer want to hear all sorts of feedback and are fully prepared for any and all feedback to make the game as excellent as possible at launch.

"We love the active dialog we have with the Call of Duty community, and value the exchange of ideas and constructive feedback we have with fans," Sledgehammer said.

"Your feedback will help us finalize features, optimize gameplay balance, and refine the remaining development roadmap to launch. So please explore, rank up, and have fun.

"Share as much feedback as you can – everything helps. The development team will be playing non-stop, and we’ll be monitoring performance and collecting valuable data around the clock.

"As you can imagine, we receive a lot of feedback internally from the development team playing the game, but it’s a different experience when fans around the world play together for the first time."

CALL OF DUTY WW2 BETA - WHAT'S INCLUDED

The announcement also revealed what maps, modes, divisions and progression systems will be in place when the Beta does become available.

It includes 3 maps (Pointe Du Hoc, Ardennes and Gibraltar), 4 modes (Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint and War Mode) and 5 divisions (Infantry, Expeditionary, Airborne, Armored and Mountain Division).

Equally, when it comes to progression, Sledgehammer say that players will begin at Soldier Rank 1 and rank up through a "limited progression" to unlock "weapons, scorestreaks, equipment, and Basic Training Skills."

As mentioned, the game will include Divisions, which is a whole new system replacing the standard Pick 10 Create-a-Class system that's been used for quite some time in Call of Duty.

But the developers believe this will deliver "the fantasy" of enlisting in one of five iconic fighting groups in the world’s most brutal conflict.

"This test of the Private Multiplayer Beta will feature an introduction to a portion of the player’s soldier progression and the underlying foundation of Divisions, and we can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it.

"The final design of this new feature will continue to be fine-tuned as development continues from now through launch."
